I recently met with a couple, both aged 55, whom are looking to retire in 10 years, and wanted to make sure they’re prepared to do so.

After some initial analysis, it was evident they hadn’t been maximising their contributions to super despite their high income.

They also had two super funds each that were not only expensive, but also were not invested in line with their investment objectives and consistent with their broader financial situation.

We prepared an advice document for them based on how we can place them in a better position.

We ran projections based on their current situation and, after our recommendations, their superannuation funds were going to last approximately to age 98, compared to only age 85 if they were to do nothing.

They recently called and said thank you and that they feel they are now on the right track to live a comfortable retirement, with many overseas holidays.

They were very grateful.
